Best Time to Visit Wisconsin
Just 90 miles north of Chicago, in the western shore of Lake Michigan, Milwaukee is much more than just beer, good food and nightlife. Its downtown offers an interesting architecture, museums (such as Milwaukee Art Museum), events and amusement, while the Lake Michigan shore and the rural districts offer a wide range of outdoor activities.

WHAT TO VISIT IN MILWAUKEE
Milwaukee downtown is the main travel reference in the city. The Riverwalk has been modernized and now has a vibrant nightlife and entertainment center.
Milwaukee Art Museum, the Discovery World, the Humphrey Imax Dome Theater and the Marcus Center for the Performing Arts (for theater and culture events) are major cultural references in downtown (other museums: Milwaukee Art Museum, Museum Center Complex, Milwaukee Public Museum, ...).
If you want to visit one of Milwaukee famous breweries, you may want try the Miller Brewing Company, five miles west of downtown.
Milwaukee's downtown is the main nightlife and entertainment center, but there are several neighbourhoods with different ethnic and entertainment mixtures. For bars and Italian restaurants, visit the Brady Street. Walter's Point, close to downtown, is a gay (and straight) amusement district.
BEST TIME TO VISIT MILWAUKEE
If you want to privilege animation, outdoor activities, festivals and sports then summer (and late spring and early fall) is the right season to visit Milwaukee. Ethnic festivals are numerous and a main regional attraction in Summer time.
Autumn or late Spring are excellent times to visit Milwaukee: they have the years most agreeable days and temperatures.
Milwaukee's winters are severe, with snowstorms and intense rainfalls. Snowstorms are common in December, January and February and are a good opportunity for snow sports enthusiasts.
WHEN NOT TO GO TO MILWAUKEE
For low accommodation rates, avoid July and August; it's also a period when humidity and high temperatures hit the region (see the Weather Data Map below, for details).
You also may want to avoid the winter months, when temperatures reach very low levels and the occasional snowstorms strike Wisconsin.

Milwaukee's downtown offers a wide range of hotels, but you may look for accommodation in its surroundings. Cedarburg, a very beautiful village just some miles from Milwaukee's center, offers excellent lodging opportunities. Milwaukee is served by General Mitchell International Airport (MKE), the main Wisconsin's airport, 5 miles from downtown. Chicago O'Hare Airport is around 160 miles away from Milwaukee.
