Milwaukee downtown is the main travel reference in the city. The Riverwalk has been modernized and now has a vibrant nightlife and entertainment center.

Milwaukee Art Museum, the Discovery World, the Humphrey Imax Dome Theater and the Marcus Center for the Performing Arts (for theater and culture events) are major cultural references in downtown (other museums: Milwaukee Art Museum, Museum Center Complex, Milwaukee Public Museum, ...).

If you want to visit one of Milwaukee famous breweries, you may want try the Miller Brewing Company, five miles west of downtown.

If you want to privilege animation, outdoor activities, festivals and sports then summer (and late spring and early fall) is the right season to visit Milwaukee. Ethnic festivals are numerous and a main regional attraction in Summer time.

Autumn or late Spring are excellent times to visit Milwaukee: they have the years most agreeable days and temperatures.

Milwaukee's winters are severe, with snowstorms and intense rainfalls. Snowstorms are common in December, January and February and are a good opportunity for snow sports enthusiasts.

For low accommodation rates, avoid July and August; it's also a period when humidity and high temperatures hit the region (see the Weather Data Map below, for details).

You also may want to avoid the winter months, when temperatures reach very low levels and the occasional snowstorms strike Wisconsin.
