WHAT TO VISIT IN SOUTHERN MINNESOTA
Rochester (a wide city in a farmland region, 80 miles south of St Paul and Minneapolis), the nearby Hiawatha Valley (bordering the Mississippi) and the small villages of Winona, Lake City, Red Wing (also close to Mississippi) are the main travel references in Southern Minnesota.
BEST TIME TO VISIT SOUTHERN MINNESOTA
Summer is the best time to visit Minnesota and its southern districts. June and September are also good months, though meteorological conditions are much more unstable.
The possibility of snow and harsh meteorological conditions are high even in the Spring and Autumn periods.

Avoid the winter months: winter times are severe even in Southern Minnesota. Even months such as April and May, or October and November are often very cold ones.

HOTELS AND FLIGHTS TO SOUTHERN MINNESOTA
Rochester's downtown and suburbs offer plenty of mid-range and cheap accommodation.
The Rochester International Airport (RST) is a first choice in the area, but the Twin Cities International Airport (serving Minneapolis, St Paul, and Bloomington...) is not very far from Rochester and the main southern tourist attractions.
