Traverse offers a wide range of tourist attractions. Its harbor and downtown allow pleasant visits, and the miles of cherry orchards, vineyards and the surrounding landscape, or the views of the bay and the sandy beaches are a sight to behold.

Traverse also offers some events (Traverse National Cherry Festival, in the first week of July), indoor amusements (water parks such as the Great Wolf Lodge or the Wild Buffalo Lodge), and plenty of golf courses that you may want to consider.

May is an excellent time to visit Traverse: the weather is usually nice and the thousands of cherry orchards around Traverse are in full bloom, turning the landscape particularly beautiful.

Summer is the most popular season to visit Traverse (accommodation and services prices peak in July and August). Big crowds come during this period, that includes the Traverse National Cherry Festival (1st week of July)

Fall is also popular: the temperatures and weather till the end of October are normally very agreeable, and excellent for outdoor activities.

Winter is severe, and this is the the off-peak season, except for skiers.

You may want to avoid the winter months, when temperatures reach very low levels, and snowstorms strike the region, unless you are a winter sports' lover.

If you want low accommodation rates, then July and August aren't the better months.

See the Weather Data Map of Grand Rapids for details about the weather in the region.

Book your hotel rooms well ahead, if you want to visit Traverse in Summer. Accommodation is very scarce in this period.

Traverse Cherry Capital Airport is located a couple of miles off Traverse's downtown, but you may want to consider the much busier Grand Rapids airport: Gerald R. Ford International Airport (GFIA).
