WHAT TO VISIT IN GALENA, ILLINOIS
Galena's downtown historic district deserves a long visit. There are dozens of shops and restaurants in its historic buildings.
Visitors love touring the wineries and Galena's countryside and also the nearby Galena river, or golfing at Eagle Ridge Resort & Spa and skiing and snowboarding at Chestnut Mountain Resort.
BEST TIME TO VISIT GALENA, ILLINOIS
Summer is a popular season to visit Galena (accommodation and services prices peak in July and August).
Fall is also popular: the temperatures and weather till the end of October are normally very agreeable, and excellent for outdoor activities.
Winter is severe, and this is the off-peak season, except, of course, for skiers.
WHEN NOT TO GO TO GALENA, ILLINOIS
If you aren't interested in skiing or snowboarding, you may want to avoid the winter and early spring months, when temperatures attain very low levels and snowstorms strike the region.
If you want low accommodation rates, then July and August aren't the best options either.
