WHAT TO VISIT IN THE FLORIDA KEYS?
All islands are connected by the Overseas Highway, the unique route between mainland and Key West.

BEST TIME TO TRAVEL TO THE FLORIDA KEYS
December to May is the best and most popular time to travel to the Florida Keys.Temperatures are high and agreeable, but not too high.
You may prefer transitional months such as March or September, October and November. These are also excellent months to visit the Florida Keys with one advantage: hotel rates are lower than in the most popular season.
There is another yet more radical alternative, for those who can tolerate lots of humidity and daily rainfalls: June to October. The rewards are significant reductions in hotel rates - and fewer crowds...
Some additional notes:
- June to October is the hurricane period, but US National Weather Service tracks these storms carefully and gives ample warning if there is any need to evacuate.
- Afternoon thunderstorms are very common in the Summer.
- Especially packed days, weeks and weekends: Presidents' Day weekend (February), Easter week, Memorial Day weekend (end of May), the Fourth of July, Labour Day weekend (September), Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's.
WHEN NOT TO GO TO THE FLORIDA KEYS
If you want to avoid the hurricane season, then don't go to Florida Keys from June to October. If you want to go for low accommodation prices, then avoid the December to May period.
For those who can't stand humidity and daily rainfalls, June to October is the period to avoid.
