Hill Country, located in the heart of Texas, west of Austin, is an extremely beautiful rural region with plenty of streams and majestic oak and cedar trees. WHAT TO VISIT IN THE HILL COUNTRY, CENTRAL TEXAS

Cities as Fredericksburg and New Braunfels are major references in the Hill Country. 

New Braunfels offers the popular Schlitterbahn waterpark and the Natural Bridge Caverns, with its family oriented set of cavern and adventure tours. New Braunfels offers also plenty of shopping opportunities, and several galleries and historic buildings.

Fredericksburg, in the very heart of the Hill Country, offers German architecture, shopping, historic buildings and museums as the Pioneer Museum or the National Museum of the Pacific War.

Just sixty miles west of Austin, the Lyndon Johnson State and National Historical Park is also an interesting site to visit for those interested in historical events.



BEST TIME TO TRAVEL TO THE HILL COUNTRY, CENTRAL TEXAS

Spring and Fall, with their mild temperatures, are the best times to visit the Hill Country. In the spring the hills are covered with colorful wildflowers as the Indian Paintbrush or the Bluebonnet, and Fall brings intense reds, oranges, greens and yellows to the landscape. 

Summer - though a hot and humid season - is also a popular time. You can easily arrange funny and agreeable water outdoor activities on the many river and area lakes. 


WHEN NOT TO GO TO THE HILL COUNTRY AND CENTRAL TEXAS

Winter has often cold snaps you may want to avoid. If you don't want to enjoy the lake and river outdoor activities, avoid also the summer.
