WHAT TO VISIT IN AUSTIN

For music and nightlife the 6th street (in downtown) and the University of Texas campus are the most popular options. But there are many other options all over central Austin. The choice is the only big problem.

Austin's downtown and the University of Texas offers also the best cultural and historical references: the State Capitol, theGovernor's Mansion, the Bat Colony, the University of Texas and its Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum. 

Austin is also an excellent base for exploring the Hill Country.

BEST TIME TO TRAVEL TO AUSTIN AND CENTRAL TEXAS

Austin is a year-round destination, but Spring and Fall, with their agreeable temperatures, are the best times to visit the city and the Hill Country region.

Summer isn't a good season for travellers who want to avoid heat and humidity: Summers tend to be too hot and too humid, with some violent (though brief) thunderstorms. 

Winter isn't usually a bad time to visit Austin, but you may face the possibility of very low temperatures.

Summer is hot and humid and Winter has regular cold snaps you may want to avoid.
